Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested at least 24 people including women and children while entering the country from India illegally through Putkhali bordering area here on Friday evening.
Among the arrestee nine were men, 10 women and five children and all of them hailing from different areas of Khulna, Bagerhat and Barisal districts, said Lt Col Ariful Haq, BGB-49 commanding officer.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive in the bordering area and arrested them. However, they could not arrest any trafficker in this connection.
