The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) here has embarked upon a plan to provide seeds and fertilizers as special incentives among 16700 small and marginal farmers in all seven Upazilas of the district for cultivating maize, mustard, groundnut and sesame.
DAE sources said each famers will receive seeds for one bigha of land as incentive.
The small and marginal farmers also will be provided with necessary fertilizers in cultivating those crops during the 2019-2020 Rabi and Kharip-1 seasons.

A total of 334 tons of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 167 tons of Muriate of Potash (MoP) will be distributed among those farmers.
Md. Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Director (DD) of DAE said the list of small and marginal farmers of the district is being prepared from Union level by a committee comprising Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer, Chairman and Members of the respective union.
” Distribution of seeds and fertilizer will start after getting the final lists and the present pro-farmer government is providing agriculture incentives free of costs among small and marginal farmers” The DD said .
BSS from Jamalpur adds: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) distributed Taka 15.44 lakh as incentive among 8,000 small and marginal farmers in the district for cultivating maize this Robi season.
Under the incentive program, a farmer also got two kilograms of maize seed, 20 kilograms DAP fertilizer and 10 kilograms MOP fertilizer free of cost for cultivation maize on one bigha of land, a DAE official said.
Of the total, 1200 farmers got incentive for cultivating maize in Sadar upazila, 1200 farmers in Sarishabari, 800 farmers in Melandaha, 1200 farmers in Islampur, 1400 farmers in Dewanganj, 1200 farmers in Madarganj and 1000 farmers in Bakshiganj upazila.
