A mobile court has recovered 2,328 litres of soybean oil from a businessman’s house in Fatikchhari. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate SM Alamgir recovered the cartons on Saturday at around 10:30pm.
It is learned that on the basis of secret information, a raid was carried out on the house of a businessman named Akhter Hossain in Dakshin Gazaria village of Baganbazar union under Bhujpur police station of Fatikchhari upazila. At that time, 2,386 liters of illegally stored soybean oil was found.
The businessman was fined Tk 40,000 for the incident. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate SM Alamgir, who conducted the drive, said they had received information from various sources that a trader had illegally stockpiled some soybean oil.
A search operation last night turned up 2,328 liters of soybean oil. A fine of Tk 40,000 was imposed on various sections of the Essential Commodities Control Act, 1956 for illegal stockpiling of goods.
At the same time, instructions were given to sell the stored oil in the open market within the next 24 hours.
