Law enforcers arrested 20 Jamaat-Shibir men, including a union level ameer of Jamaat, raiding different areas of Sadar , Mithapukur , Taragonj upazilas of the district on Friday night.
Sofikul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of kotualy Police Station, said police conducted drives in five Sadar and arrested 20 Jamaat-Shibir men including Sha Alam , 27 was a former Rukon of Rangpur district unit of Jamaat, ameer of Taragong union unit of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Of the 20 arrestees– 12 are Jamaat activists while the rest are Shibir men and all the arrestees are accused in number of cases including vandalism, arson and attacks on on-duty policemen,theOCadded.
In Dapar hat , said police in separate drives arrested four Shibir men from different unions of the upazila early yesterday, said Abu Hanif , sub-inspector of Taragong Police Station.
They are accused in cases filed with the police station on charge of vandalism and arson attacks, added OC.
Phulbari (Dinajpur) Correspondent adds: In two different raids since Thursday afternoon, Nawabgonj police arrested atleast three Jamaat and Shibir men from the upazila who were accused in two cases, police said.
The arrested persons were identified as Md. Shahin Alam 25, sons of Afsar Ali of Shalti Muradpur village in Nawabgonj upazila, Nurunnabi 28, sons of Jasim Uddin of Shalti Muradpur village in Nawabgonj upazila and Nur Islam 27, sons of Jafir Uddin of uttar Mamudpur in Nawabgonj upazila under Dinajpur district.Md.
