A total of 2,200 underprivileged and other less-incoming families were given humanitarian aid aimed at ensuring their food security amid the strict lockdown being enforced to contain the Covid-19 spread.
Each of them was given a food package containing 15 kilograms of rice, two kilograms of flour, one kilogram of lentil, salt, edible oil and onion each, 100 grams of powder-chilly and one soap.
One Bank Limited distributed the relief materials under its corporate social responsibilities at Riverview Collectorate High School playground today through maintaining health rules to contain Covid-19 spread.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi Abdul Jalil accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioners Nazrul Islam and Shariful Haque, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Aminul Haque and One Bank Vice-president and Branch Manager Abdul Mannan distributed the foods.
On the occasion, 650 households of Rajshahi city area received the food support. The remaining foods will be distributed in Paba, Puthiya and Godagari Upazilas on the three following days.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Jalil expressed his gratitude to the One Bank Limited for the humanitarian assistance to the worst-affected people.
He said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to support the hand-to-mouth people during the global pandemic.
He said all the worst-affected people are being brought under humanitarian support so that they can lead their life through mitigating their financial constraint being caused by the global pandemic.
He, however, urged the recipients to follow health rules strictly to control the spread of the deadly virus.
