A total of 22 listed companies in the country won the fourth “Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2016”.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed handed over the award certificates to the winning companies at a function held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) here on Thursday, said a press release on Friday.
The award went to the listed companies in 8 categories under Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). While extending heartiest congratulation to all award recipients, Tofail Ahmed said the present government is committed to ensure good governance and corporate culture in the listed companies.
He applauded the role of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh for developing professional skills in the listed companies.
Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose and Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Dr M Khairul Hossain and former Finance Advisor Dr AB Mirza M Azizul Islam also attended the award giving ceremony.
Among the awardees, Prime Bank Limited got the gold while Southeast Bank Limited and Eastern Bank Limited bagged silver and bronze respectively in the Banking category.
Similarly, in Non-Banking category, Financial Institutions IDLC Finance Limited got the gold while International Leasing And Financial Services Limited and Union Capital Limited achieved silver and bronze respectively.
Likewise in Insurance Companies category, Green Delta Insurance Company limited received the gold while Prime Insurance Company Limited and Phoenix Insurance Company Limited ensured silver and bronze respectively.
In Pharmaceutical, Food and Allied Companies category, the IBN SINA Pharmaceutical Industry Limited got the gold while Golden Harvest Agro Industries Limited and Square Pharmaceuticals Limited got silver and bronze respectively.
