Staff Reporter :
A heart touching video of some 22 Bangladeshi nationals, currently trapped in Algeria, has gone viral on social media platforms begging for life and help from the government so that they return to the country.
Recruiting agency M/s RS Linkers sent some 45 to 50 Bangladeshi citizens mostly from Munshiganj District with No Objection Certificates from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) to Algeria in 2017.
They were told by the agency that they would be able to go to Spain via Morocco and earned Tk 40 to 50 thousand monthly.
Most of them are currently leading a miserable life being trapped in Algeria and want to return to the country.
Migration Programme of BRAC has recently sent application to the authorities of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board and the BMET seeking relevant High Commission’s initiatives in bringing the trapped Bangladeshi citizens.
Wage Earners’ Welfare Board has also sent a letter to the High Commission urging it to take proper action in this regard.
