The 21st anniversary of Jugantar, a leading Bangla national daily in the country, was celebrated in a colourful manner at the Jamuna Future Park Convention Centre in Dhaka on Saturday.
The celebration of the anniversary was inaugurated by cutting a giant cake by Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Kader and publisher of the newspaper Salma Islam along with other invited guests.
Eminent citizens, politicians, academicians, intellectuals,
physicians, businesspersons, artistes, journalists, readers and well-wishers, attended the anniversary programme with bouquets and exchanged greetings.
Chairman, Editorial Board of The New Nation Barrister Mainul Hosein also attended the programme and expressed the hope that Jugantar will continue to pursue free journalism in days to come.
Jugantar editor Saiful Islam received all the guests.
The guests wished the Daily Jugantar for stepping into the 22nd year of its publication and hoped the newspaper would continue to free journalism with courage in days to come.
On the occasion, Barrister Mainul Hosein in a message said, “In spite of difficulties for free journalism the Jugantar is trying to remain impartial and independent. I appreciate Jugantar for publishing many of my articles that really encourage me to write continuously. I wish Jugantar as a free press. My best wishes to the Jugantar.”
