216 ethnic students get Tk 54 lakh stipend

Some 216 students from the ethnic minority families in Rajshahi district were given education stipends worth Taka 54 lakh on behalf of the Prime Minister’s office aimed at making their respective institutional studies unhindered.
Each of the under-graduation level students was given Taka 25,000 at a simple ceremony held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office through maintaining social distancing and other health guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque accompanied by Additional District Magistrate Abu Asmal and Additional Deputy Commissioners Nazrul Islam, Shariful Haque and Muhammad Kamruzzaman distributed the stipend money.
Speaking on the occasion, Hamidul Haque said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for enriching the country’s skilled human resources through qualitative and quantitative development of the education sector.
He urged all the cheque-recipient students to acquire modern knowledge after the best uses of the government stipend support to serve the nation competently.
