At least 2,141 policemen have so far been infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh as the deadly virus continues to spread alarmingly.
Meanwhile, among the total coronavirus-infected police members, 1,041 are
of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone, said a source at the Police Headquarter.
Among them, 1,041 contracted the virus in Dhaka city alone under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Besides, seven law enforcers died from Covid-9 infections during the same period.
Around 3,091 members of Bangladesh Police are currently in quarantine while1,152 are receiving treatment at different hospitals and isolation units until Thursday.
Meanwhile 345 serving and retired military/civilian members of the Armed Forces and their families were admitted to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) with Covid-19 infection as of Monday.
Bangladesh reported 15 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Friday, taking the death toll in the country to 298.
Besides, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country have jumped to 20,065 with record 1,202 more during the period.
This is the highest daily surge of coronavirus cases in the country since the first three cases were reported on March 8. On May 13, highest 1,162 cases and record 19 deaths were reported in the country.
