The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) is distributing Mashkolai seeds and fertilisers as special incentives among 2,100 flood-affected marginal farmers in five upazilas out of seven in the district.
The flood-hit upazilas are Daulatpur, Shibalaya, Harirampur, Ghior and Saturia, DAE officials said.
The distribution of seeds and fertilisers has already been completed among the farmers of Saturia, Ghior and Shibalaya upazila and the distribution works continue in Harirampur and Daulatpur Upazila.
The DAE officials said each of the famers is getting seeds for one bigha of land as incentive. The marginal farmers are also getting necessary fertilizers, including Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MoP).
Md Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Director of DAE, said the list of small and marginal farmers of the district was prepared from union parishad level by a committee comprising with sub-assistant agriculture officer and the chairmen and members of the respective unions.
Habibur said the present pro-farmer government is distributing special agriculture incentives free of costs among small and marginal farmers.
