21 killed in road crashes in 7 days

At least 21 people were killed and several others were critically injured in road crashes in different parts of the country in last seven days.
In Manikganj, around five passengers were killed and at least 28 others injured following a head-on collision between two buses near Joypura bus stand in Dhamrai upazila.
The deceased were identified as Bhajan Chandra Chowdhury, 48, son of Nibaran Chandra Chowdhury from Chandripur village of Dhamrai upazila, Somnath Sen, 52, from Bajitpur village under Manirampur upazila of Jashore district, bus helper Farid Mollah, 25, son of Md Jamal Molla, from Dighulia village under Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district. The identity of two others could not be ascertained.
Dhamrai Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Julfikar confirmed the news to media.
In Gazipur, at least two persons including a college girl were killed in separate road crashes on both Friday and Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Farzana Alam Mim, 19, a student of Safiuddin Sarker Academy and College

(SSAC) in Tongi and Lalchan Mia, 32, son of Abdul Jabbar from Berakhola Pachchampara village under Shahajatpur Upazila in Sirajganj.
In Tangail, A pickup rammed 10th-grade student Sadia Afrin, 16, from behind in Beltoli Bazar area of Tangail’s Sakhipur upazila, leaving her critically injured.
In Dhaka, Saiful Islam Rana, a nurse of Dhaka Community Medical College and Hospital in Moghbazar, was killed around 1:00pm when a speedy bus hit his motorcycle and dragged him yards on the street in the same area.
Quoting witnesses, the victim’s cousin Rajibul Islam Rabid said the bus got down from the ramp of Moghbazar flyover near Wireless Gate with speed and rammed Saiful’s motorbike, which had entered the thoroughfare from an alley.
Contacted, Maruf Hossain Sardar, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna Zone), said they detained the driver, Imran, and his assistant.
In Chapainawabganj, a child, named Sanjid Ahmed (5), was killed by a battery-operated auto-rickshaw while crossing the road in Gabtala area of Chapainawabganj. He was the son of Tahurul Islam.
In Sirajganj, A rickshaw van driver named Belal Hossain, 38, was killed in a road accident in Bhuiyagati Kamarpara Bridge under Ghurka Union of Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj. He is the son of late Aye Mandal of Ghudda Bazar area.
In Sherpor, on Thursday night at around 8:30 pm in Sherpur’s Shibrodi Upazila of Camtoli Bazar, motorcycle and troly faced collision. Rabiul Islam (25), son of Mr. Ali died on the spot.
In Narayanganj, a first grade student named Limon (7) was killed in a road accident in Narayanganj Port City .
The incident took place in Bandar Rupali residential area on Friday night.
Bandar Police Station OC Shahin Mondal confirmed the incident.
In Savar, a microbus driver was killed in road accidents when a bus rammed the microbus in Savar.
The accident took place on Sunday at Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Hemayetpur.
The deceased was identified as Rafiq Mia, a resident of Madaripur village.
In Munshiganj, a schoolgirl named Arifa Akhter (9) was killed in a road crash in Srinagar on Friday evening.
Arifa was the second-grade student of Damla Government Primary School.
In Sherpur, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision between motorcycle and trolley at around 8:00 pm on Thursday in the Quayamtali area of Sherpur district.
The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam (25). He is the son of Md Ali of Nayri Shrivardi village.
In Natore, a motorcyclist named Jahurul Islam Shah (55) was killed when a Ishi Bike rammed him at Ramagari Shahpara village under Baraiagram upazila. He died on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Jahurul, 35, son of late Afsar Shah of Ramgarhi Shahpara village.
In Narayanganj ,when Siddique Miah, day labourer was returning home after work at around 9pm on Thursday a truck hit him and pushed him away. He died on the spot.
