21 killed in road accidents

At least thirteen people were killed, several others injured in separate road crashes in five districts of the country on Monday.
In Feni, six persons were killed and seven others critically injured when a micro bus collided with a cattle-laden truck on Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Muhuriganj in Chhagalnaiya upazila of the district at around 3:30am.
The deceased were identified as micro bus driver Sharif Rahman, 42, son of Siraj Mollah of Charmohana village under Raipur upazila of Lakshmipur district, Jahan Ara Begum, 50, daughter of late Nur Mohammad, hailed from Mandari village of
Lakshmipur Sadar upazila, Rumi 35, Poppy 13, Shuvo 8, and Ruman 2.
“Police sent the bodies to Feni Modern Sadar Hospital morgue. The injured are undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital,” Md Mahabub Alam, Outpost in-Charge of Muhuriganj Highway Police confirmed the news to reporters. In Gaibandha, three persons were killed in a road accident in Maheshpur area of Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district on Monday.
The accident took place around 4:30pm. The details of the deceased could not be known immediately.
In Gazipur, two teenage girls were killed and three others injured as a covered van rammed a rickshaw-van in Konabari Natunbazar area of Gazipur City Corporation on Monday noon.
The deceased were identified as Sadia Naznin Mim, 15, daughter of one Selim Rana of Rakhaliachala area in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur and their domestic help Sanzida, 12. Salna Highway police station Officer-in-Charge Bashu Dev Sinha confirmed the news. The bodies were recovered and legal procedures are underway.
In Dhaka, a biker of Pathao, a ride-sharing service, was killed after a truck hit his motorbike in Mohammadpur area of Dhaka on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Parvez, 32, son of one Wahidul Islam of Chuadanga Sadar area. He used to live in a rented house in city’s Rayer Bazaar area.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jamaluddin confirmed the news to media.
In Sirajganj, Khokon Sheikh, 30, was killed in a road accident near Kamarkhand upazila of the district. Three people were injured in the accident. The accident occurred on Monday morning at the Jabalal overbridge area of the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway.
Local police confirmed the news to media.

At least eight people have been killed and 12 others injured in a collision between a bus and a small passenger carrier, locally called ‘Laguna’, in Narsingdi’s Belabo.
The accident occurred at Berhikandi area on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Monday evening, Belabo Police Station OC Jabed Mahmud told bdnews24.com.
The road crash happened amidst a rush of homebound Eid-ul-Azha holidaymakers and trucks carrying sacrificial cattle on the highways.
