Twenty-one lecturers of a college in Jessore’s Keshabpur Upazila have lost their job over forgery of teachers registration certificates.
Besides, two teachers, along with the lecturers of Keshabpur Degree College, have also been suspended over the allegations of embezzling money.
Chairman of the college administration council Reba Bhowmik said Education Ministry’s Joint Secretary Mojibur Rahman and Directorate of Inspection and Audit’s Deputy Director Rashed Uzzaman looked into the matter after the allegations were made last June.
“Lecturer Rafiqul Bari and computer studies teacher Bulbul Quddus were suspended while 21 lecturers were sacked in an administration council meeting on Thursday following recommendations of the investigation report.”
The ministry would soon be informed of the dismissals, said Bhowmik.
The report, submitted by the two-member probe committee on last July 22, stated that there were evidences of Bari and Bulbul’s financial wrongdoings and embezzlement of Tk 20 million.
The report also recommended the dismissal of the two teachers and 21 lecturers for forgery of teacher registration certificates, said Bhowmik.
However, Bari has denied his involvement in the embezzlement of money. He said steps taken against him were unjust.
The former Whip Wahab averted the allegations raised by the lecturers and instead blamed the probe committee.
“The probe committee did everything by force. No misconducts took place that time,” he said.
