A case was filed against 21 Jamaat men, including Port City Jamaat Ameer ANM Shamsul Islam and Secretary Nazrul Islam under Anti-terrorism Act before Kotwali thana , Assistant . Police Commissioner Shah Md. Abdur Rouf said.
Kotwali Thana sub-inspector Imam Hossian filed the case on Monday late night. Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam assigned the duty as IO of the case, sources said.
Police also decided to seek 7 days remand of them showing arrest before the court.
Confirming the matter Kotwali zone police assistant commissioner Shah M Abdur Rouf said that a case was filed in anti terrorism act as explosive materials seized from the spot.
Allude to the law enforcement agency arrested 21 Jamaat men, including port city Jamaat Ameer and former lawmaker ANM Shamsul Islam from a meeting at Dewanbazar Jamaat office in the city on Monday afternoon . The arrested leaders were sent to Metropolitan Magistrate court in Chittagong yesterday afternoon and sought 7 days remand for investigation against the accused. Detained leaders include City Ameer and former lawmaker ANM Shamsul Islam, City ge neral secretary Nazrul Islam, Joint secretary Obaidullah, publicity secretary Md. Ullah, Asstt. Professor of Ctg University Dr. Habibur Rahman, office assistant of south district Jammat unit Md. Moinuddin, city jammat official Abu Bakkar siddique, Ctg Port employee Abdul Hakim, BCSIR employee Maniruzzaman, Md. Selimuddin, jammat member Zakir Hossain, Dr. Md. Alam, Ayub Ali, Abdul Matin, Teacher Abdul Motaleb, Islamia Academy employee Siddiqur Rahman, Ward Jammat leader of Dewan Bazar Shah Alam, Dewan Bazar Mosque Khadem Ibrahim and Jamaat members Towhid, Hashem and Faruk Azam, police sources said.
Mentionable that during the police raid in the city Jamaat office, one and half Kg potash, two liters petrol and a number of empty bottle were recovered by the police, sources said.
