The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 21 gamblers from the city’s Sadarghat and Keraniganj area.
A press statement issued by the media wing of the RAB on Saturday said that a team of RAB-10 raided the Sadarghat area under the Kotowali Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Saturday.
During the operation, the team arrested at least seven gamblers when they were gambling. The arrested gamblers have been identified as Md. Shahidul (38), Md. Motaleb (48), Shamim (33), Ataur Rahman (50), Md. Billal (32), Abdur Razzak (38) and Md. Rafiq (38).
At that time, seven mobile phone sets, 19 packets of gambling cards and Tk 11,690 in cash were seized from them.
The statement further said that the same team of RAB 10 conducted another operation in Hasnabad Saat Batia area under Dakshin Keraniganj of Dhaka district at 11:30 pm on Friday night and arrested 14 gamblers from the gambling venue.
The arrested persons were Md. Mintu (24), Mintu Chandra Sen (32), Md. Nasir (40), Md. Yunus Sardar (35), Md. Iqbal Hossain (35), Md. Bahar (56), Md. Rob Mia (42), a. Rahman (42), Md. Ashraf (49), Md. Hobi Mia (35), Md. Helal (48), Md. Rafiqul Islam Rafiq (42), Md. Asadul (25) and Md. Sumon (36).
At that time, 18 mobile phone sets, 5 packets of gambling cards and Tk 13,300 in cash were also seized from them.
