The month-long 22nd edition of Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is going to take place from January 1, 2017. It will feature products and goods of 25 countries.
A total of 21 countries participated in the 21st DITF 2016, apart from Bangladesh.
Organizers said the number of participation of foreign countries this year has grown because of a congenial business environment now prevailing in the country and the growing interest of foreign buyers to the annual business event.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Ministry of Commerce are jointly organizing the event to be held at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, on the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will formally open the international fair from on 1 January.
Organizers said, there will be about 100 pavilions, 60 mini pavilions, 80 premier pavilions and over 300 stalls in the fair.
Entry fee has been fixed at Tk 30 per person for adult and Tk 20 for child.
“The event will be held with the focus of export promotion. Exhibitors will
showcase quality exportable products to the visitors from home and abroad,” Mafrufa Sultana, Vice-President of EPB told The New Nation on Sunday.
She said, local producers in rural Bangladesh who do not have financial strength to participate in the International trade fair will have the opportunity to display their products to the international buyers at this fair.
Besides, the foreign participants will have opportunity to exhibit their products for the consumers of Bangladesh where domestic market of consumer goods is expanding.
The foreign participants will also have the opportunity to display their state-of-the-art technology to the local producers and exporters.
Besides, the participants will be able to identify business contacts with the prospect of entering into subsequent business negotiations.
“Our preparation to hold the annual event is going on in full swing and it is near to completion,” said Mafrufa Sultana.
She said, the fair is going to take place in a larger space this year considering demands of exhibitors and visitors.
“Adequate security measures will be taken to ensure safety and security of the fair ground as well exhibitors and visitors,” she said adding, “We are going to organise the DITF-2017 by providing all kinds of facilities to the visitors.”
The fair will display products like machinery, carpet, cosmetics and beauty goods, electrical and electronic, jute and jute goods, leather and leather goods, footwear, sports goods, sanitary wears, toys, stationary, watch, jewellery, ceramics table, local apparel items, processed foods, first foods, furniture and handicrafts.
