Chittagong district police in a series of drives detained 16 activists of BNP-Jamaat-Shibir from different upazilas of the district on Tuesday night.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said police detained 21 activists in overnight raids at various places of Hathazari, Sitakunda, Jorargonj, and Lohagara Upazilas on Tuesday night.
Among the detainees, 10 Jamaat activists, 8 Islami Chhatra Shibir activists and 3 BNP activists, the police officer said, adding that they were detained to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade and hartal enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance.
