The 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) was held on Saturday at the Nasim Osman Memorial Park at Fatullah in Narayanganj. Chaired by BKMEA President AKM Selim Osman, the agenda of the 20th AGM was passed unanimously by all of its members, said a press release on Sunday. BKMEA First Vice President Monsur Ahmed, Second Vice President Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Vice President (Finance) Humayun Kabir Shilpi were present, among others, at the meeting.
After the AGM, the 22nd Founding Anniversary of BKMEA and the reunion of its members was also held at the same venue through cutting a cake. Shamim Osman, MP, was present at that function as chief guest while FBCCI former Vice President and Bangladesh Re-Rolling Mills Association President Mohammad Ali, FBCCI Director Prabir Kumar Saha and Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce President Khaled Haider Khan Kajol were also present.
The BKMEA members at that function honoured its President AKM Selim Osman by giving him a crest.
Speaking at the function, BKMEA President AKM Selim Osman urged the government to continue its support to the business community adding that around 15 lakh workers including 70 percent female workers are involved in the knitwear sector.
Bangladesh exported knitwear items worth $15.8 billion in 164 countries in the last fiscal year.
