The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) presided by Nazmul Hasan Papon, has not yet made a final decision about the fate of Asia Cup. But, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said that, this year’s Asia Cup has been cancelled.
The Asia Cup was scheduled to take place in September. Returning to the international cricket field on Wednesday, therefore, there is no reason not to be on the cricket field in September. However, Sourav claimed that the boards have moved away from the decision to host the Asia Cup.
“The Asia Cup has been cancelled. This time it is not happening anymore” Sourav said in an interview to India’s influential Bengali media Anandabazar. The heads of various boards and ACC regulators met on June 8 to decide the future of the Asia Cup. The meeting, chaired by ACC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon, decided to wait until the end to host the Asia Cup.
