A total of 202 Government Primary Schools of the district got financial assistance amounting to Taka 1.21 crore from the government in 2016-17 fiscal.
District primary education office sources said the money was distributed for different purposes including teaching learning materials, like pen, writing pad, drawing book, color pencil, uniform for vulnerable poor students and class room beautification.
The financial assistance was also disbursed for organizing hand writing, drawing and debate competition, games and sports and cultural function, and repairing of furniture wall and floor of the schools, the sources said.
Each of the schools received Taka ranging from 51,000 to 1,36000 from the Primary Education Development Programme-111 of the government funded by UNICEF, an official said.
District primary education officer M. Aminul Islam Mondal said the 202 cheques of the financial assistance had been disbursed to the head teachers of the respective schools for the purposes.
