A total of 202 people suffering from critical diseases like cancer, kidney, congenital heart disease, Thalassemia, paralysis, strokeetc were given a total of Tk one crore one lakh as govt assistance for treatment of their diseases. Each patient was given a cheque for Tk 50 thousand.
For this purpose, the Social Welfare Deptorganised a Cheque Distribution function at ChandpurShilpokola Academy on last Saturday. This monetary help was a gift from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Education Minister DrDipuMoni handed over the cheques as chief guest to the 202 men, women and children ( beneficiaries) who had to come to this cheque distribution function here from remote and backward places in the eight Upazilas of the district.
Thepatients had to suffer much as they had to wait for long six hours since 2 pm till 8 pm to take theircheques at this Academy-alleged many badly sick patients.
DC Anjana Khan Majlish chaired the function while ChandpurPaura Mayor JillurRahman, SP Milon Mahmud and Civil Surgeon Dr M Shakhawatullah were present as the special guests on the occasion.
Chandpur District Social Welfare Department’s Deputy Director Rajat Shuvra Sarker spoke on the occasion among others.
In her speech DrDipuMoni thanked the Prime Minister for giving govt assistance to the serious patients for their medi cares. She called upon all to follow health rules strictly to keep well and remain hale and hearty.
She said, out of 494 applications, a total of 202 applications were sorted out and selected for govt assistances for medical treatment as the govt fund was short.
Talking to this correspondent, PromeuthShil(10 yrs), a Thalassemia patient of Hajiganj town and his mother Ostomi Rani Shil , another Thalassemia patient MeemAkter (14) and her father MominAkhand of Roghunathpur village , Rina Begum – a kidney patient and her husband Ibrahim Khan , of Luxmipur village- both under ChandpurSadar , have expressed their gratitude with tears to the Prime MinisterSkHasina for this great help for their treatment. They have prayed for long and sound life of the Prime Minister.
