Police arrested a charge-sheeted accused in a case for torching a bus in South Surma upazila in 2011 from Temukhi area under Moglabazar thana of the city on Friday night.
The arson attack during a hartal left the father of film actress Shabnur dead.
The arrestee was identified as Nazrul Islam Turan,30, son of Abdus Salam, a resident of Silam Tikarpara village in South Surma upazila of the district. Police said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Turan at about 9:00 pm.
On December 18, 2011, miscreants set a bus on fire in South Surma during the opposition-sponsored hartal that left Shabnur’s father Kazi Nasir dead and several other passengers injured.
Police filed a case against 24 named and 16 unnamed people in this connection.
On August 11 this year, police submitted charge-sheet against 38 people.
Azhar, sub-inspector of Moglabazar Police Station, said Turan was the charge-sheeted accused.
