The Coast Guard in a joint drive seized 2,000 kg hilsa fry (jatka) from three passenger launches in Dhaleswari River early this morning.
Mohammad Shahjadha Khasru, a fisheries official of Munshiganj Sadar upazila, said the members of Coast Guard of Narayanganj Pagla station and officials of Munshiganj Fisheries office conducted the joint raid in the Dhaka bound MV Sariatpur-3, MV Mittali-6 and MV Farhan-4 and recovered the 2,000 kg hilsa fry.
The members of the law enforcement agency, conducted the joint drive on the basis of secret information and found jatka hilsa in 7 baskets in the launches.
None was arrested in this connection. Later, the seized jatkas were distributed among the local orphanage and madrasa.
