Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Footsteps distributed 2,000 quality blankets among 1000 cold-hit poor and distressed families of Rangpur city, Mithapukur and Kaunia upazilas under Rangpur district, Rajarhat upazila of Kurigram district and Hatibandha under Lalmonirhat district.
Under the programme of BDRCS, 500 blankets were distributed among 250 distressed families at a ceremony at Rangpur Government Girls’ High School premises in the city yesterday.
Besides, as part of the BDRCS 500 blankets will be distributed among 250 distressed families of the elderly and physically challenged people at Faridpur Government Primary School premises in Mithapukur upazila tomorrow.
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht distributed
two blankets among each of the 250 beneficiary distressed
families at Rangpur Government Girls’ High School premises in the
city on Friday as the chief guest.
Rangpur unit Secretary of BDRCS Shah Mohammad Nabi Ullah Panna presided over the blanket distribution ceremony.
Executive Committee Members of Rangpur unit of BDRCS Alhaj ATM Shahnewaz Bablu, AA Al Amin, Rowshanul Kaiser Sangram, its Unit Level Officer Saiful Islam, Programme Officer Mostafa Kamal, District Youth Unit Chief Hasnayen Nayan and its members were present.
In separate drives, youths of Footsteps, an organization of A Level students from English medium schools distributed yesterday 1,000 blankets among cold-hit poor children, women and old in different districts under Rangpur division.
Shah Meem Rafayat Chowdhury, coordinator of Footsteps told BSS today, Dhaka-based students collected those blankets and warm clothes from Gulshan and Banani area on December 27 last and distributed those among cold-hit poor under Kaunia upazila of Rangpur, Rajarhat upazila of Kurigram district and Hatibanga under Lalmonirhat district yesterday.
