200 women turn self-reliant thru’ processing coconut-fiber in Bogra

 Over 200 insolvent and distress women have turned self-reliant through processing coconut-fiber as it is used for making quality mattress from last few years under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district.
 Before involving this profession, they have to endure untold suffering said locals.
The wholesalers purchase the coconut-fiber from nearby bazar and sent them to the day laboures for processing. They buy per kg of cocoanut-fiber by TK. 6 and they sell them after processing from TK. 17-22 to the mattress workshop, urged the wholesalers.
The women, widows, divorcee and adolescence that used to work as maid servant five year back to manage the expenditure of the family, have changed their fortune preparing the aspect. The artisans of Sarderpara, Palpara, Chodgurypara, Mondalpara and post officepara of Dupchanchia municipality area of the district are earning much during this winter season.
An artisan Baishakhi, 45, at Mondal para village said, she brings the cocoanut-fibers from nearby Karim’s mattress workshop at CO oofice bazar area and she sells them by tk. twelve per kilogram after processing. This processed cocoanut-fiber is being used to make high quality mattress and this mattress have been sold in the sophisticated market across the country, she added.
An artisan can earn from TK. 220-30 processing the fiber without investing the capital rather they need a hammer and a stone. Around 4 tho2usand KGs cocoanut-fiber is being processed in, Palpara, Chodgurypara, Mondalpara and post office para every day.
While asking recently, the women narrated how they were inspired in resolving their own problems through collective efforts, initiatives, capacities, abilities, potentialities and properly utilizing the resources available in their localities. A significant success has been achieved solvency of the unemployment women as they attained economic self-reliance in recent years through their hard endeavour in the poverty-prone.
A artisan Upashi Rany, a divorcee, about 35 years old said, she was swimming with the distress after ensuring divorce by husband few year back as her father’s economic condition was not well of all. She took training on how coconut-fiber can be processed with the assistance of local artisan and now she is earning TK. 300-400 per day from the jobs, she mentioned.
