A fire has gutted at least 200 shops in a market in Rangamati’s Baghaicharhi Upazila.
Baghaicharhi police OC Azizul Haque said the fire broke out at the town’s ‘Kalam Market’ around 4am on Saturday and it soon spread.
“The shops were burnt down to ashes before fire
service personnel from Khagracharhi could reach.”
Businessmen said goods worth around Tk 100 million were destroyed in the fire.
Police think a short-circuit may have caused the fire but are yet to confirm the exact cause.
