BSS, Gaibandha :
Over 200 families of Jibanpur village under Gobindaganj upazila in the district were brought under rural electrification network by Gaibandha Palli Bidyut Samity (GPBS) on Friday.
A simple function was held at the village under Sapmara union of the upazila with general manager (GM) of GPBS GHM Wahedul Haque in the chair.
Lawmaker Principal Abul Kalam Azad attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undertaken a massive capacity expansion plan to have 24,000 MW capacity of power production in the country after assuming in power in 2009.
Later, the lawmaker formally inaugurated the electrification programme at the village of the union as the chief guest.
A large number of people including the officials of GPBS, public representatives, social workers, political leaders and local elite including journalists of print and electronic media were present on the occasion.
Talking to BSS, GM of GPBS GHM Wahedul Haque said earlier, a total of 160 families of Ashrayan Project in Char Balua area under Mohimaganj union of the upazila got electricity facility from the samity on Thursday afternoon.
