Business Desk :
The government has started refunding the Qcoom customers, who did not receive products even after making advance payments. A number of 20 clients of the e-commerce firm on Monday got back Tk 40 lakh, which was stuck in the Foster payment gateway. Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh inaugurated the refunding process at the conference room of the Commerce Ministry. The Qcoom will refund Tk 59.05 crore to 6,721 consumers gradually. “We have taken steps to reimburse the amount to the clients. Twenty of them got back their money (Tk 40,02,413) on Monday. We are working to refund other consumers,” the secretary said.
The commerce ministry’s e-commerce cell held an emergency meeting on December 28 last year to discuss refunding Qcoom customers. The meeting decided to list how much is owed to how many customers.
A partial list containing information on 6,721 customers was drawn up and submitted to the commerce ministry.
These customers paid around Tk 59.05 crore in advance but did not receive products. The money is stuck at Foster.
