The BNP-led 20-party alliance has termed the comments of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about missing BNP Joint-Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed as ‘brutal mockery’.
The alliance and the family members of the BNP leader are worried over his safety who remained traceless for the last five days.
BNP’s current spokesperson and another Joint-Secretary General Barkatullah Bulu, in a statement, on
behalf of the alliance on Sunday expressed concern as well as condemned the PM over her comments.
In her comments, the PM said, “BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has trafficked the BNP joint-secretary general putting inside garbage bags.”
He claimed that there is no trace of Salahuddin in the past five days of his missing as the law enforcers detained him from his residence in city’s Uttara area on March 10.
“The family of Salahuddin, 20-party leaders and activists and the people of the country are worried over the safety of the BNP leader. He has not been released or produced before the court till now. Even the law enforcement agencies denied his arrest. We are very worried about him,” he said in the statement.
The BNP leader demanded of the government to release Salahuddin or produce him before the court. The statement came just hours after law enforcement agencies submitted five separate reports to the Attorney General’s office, saying that none of the agencies had arrested the BNP leader.
Bulu warned the government of the consequences if Salahuddin is not returned safe and unhurt.
