UNB, Dhaka :The BNP-led 20-party alliance is likely to stage countrywide demonstrations on August 19 demanding the government scrap the National Broadcast Policy, 2014.The alliance might also hold a silent procession with black-flag all over the country on August 16 to register their protest against the Israeli offensive in Gaza Strip.BNP standing committee members worked out the programme at a meeting of the party’s policymakers on Sunday night, a policymaker told UNB wishing anonymity.He, however, said the programme will be finalised on Monday at the meeting of the top leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.Besides, the party policymakers chalked out various programmes to mark the BNP’s founding anniversary.The BNP standing committee members sat in the meeting around 8:40pm that ended around 10:30m at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office with Khaleda Zia in the chair.BNP standing committee members RA Gani, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Tariqul Islam, Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Jamiruddin Sircar, ASM Hannan Shah, Begum Sarwari Rahman, MK Anwar, Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Nazrul Islam attended the meeting.
