BNP-led 20-party alliance on Monday announced a 3-day programme protesting the government move to empower the parliament to impeach Supreme Court judges. BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office. The programmes include demonstration in all districts and cities, except Dhaka, for Tuesday, protest procession and rally at 15 points of the capital on Wednesday and a human chain programme in all cities and districts on Saturday(August30) marking the International Forced Disappearance Day. The cabinet on August 18 approved the proposal for amendment to the constitution for empowering the parliament to impeach the Supreme Court judges for misconduct or incapacity.—UNB, Dhaka.
