A team of Fishery Directorate on Wednesday noon recovered 20 mounds Jatka (Hilsa fries less than 10-inch in length) from a bus plying on Bhola-Barisal route.
Bimal Chandra Das, district fishery officer (Hilsa) , said on basis of tip-off with the help of detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan Police we raided the bus near the toll-plaza of Saheed Abdur Rob Serniabad Bridge at about 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
Then from the roof-top of the bus twenty mounds Jakta packed in baskets and covered with polythene sheets recovered.
The recovered Jatka were seized and later distributed among the religious educational institutions and Al-Amin, line-man of the bus was fined Tk. 5 thousand for carrying those, Bimal Chandra said.
According to fishery act netting and marketing Jatka banned round the year to ensure safe rearing of hilsa.
