AL rivals clash in Jhenidah: 20 injured, 22 round bullets fired

Two groups of Awami League of Siddi village locked into clash over forming managing committee at Bakai-Siddi Secondary School under Shailkupa upazila of the district on Friday morning and 20 people including women of both groups were injured.
Police opened 22 round blank shoots to bring the situation under control.
Police and locals said, there has been a long standing conflict between ex-up member and local AL activist Rezaul Karim Dulal and defeated Dignagar UP chaiman candidate and local AL activist Jillur Rahman Topon.
Alim Uddin a local said, recently Headmaster along with ad hoc committee announced the date of election of managing committee on April, 20. Two panels submitted their nomination papers. Consequently, agitation starts between the two groups. On Friday morning at around 11-00 am the loyalists of Dulal member attacked the house of Motiar Rahman of Siddi village and beat up his son Rakibul Islam. Following the matter both the groups equipped with local weapons locked in to fierce clash. At the time Beauty Khatun and Anita Rani have been injured and 18 others. The injured have taken treatment at Shailkupa local health complex and local clinics, Alim and police added.
Officer -in -charge (OC) Monir Uddin Mollah of Shailkupa police station said, this clash ensued over forming managing committee of the secondary school. They have opened fire 22 round blank shoots to disperse the mob. Now the situation is under control, the OC added.
