20 gamblers detained in Port City

Police have arrested 20 gamblers in separate raids from North Patenga and Baizid Bostami area of Patenga and Bayzid Police Station in the city. They were arrested from a gambling den in Purba Hossain Ahmed Para in Patenga around 4:15 am on Friday.
At the time, 26,790 taka and gambling equipments were recovered from them.
The arrested are: Abdur Rahim (41), Md. Salauddin (28), Md. Nasir (28), Md. Manju (33), Md. Samiul Hasan (32), Md. Nazim Uddin (33), Md. Abbas (34). Md. Mizan (36), Md. Habib Munna (28), Ramzan Ali Rinku (25), Md. Badsha (26), Md. Ashraf Uddin (38), Md. Shahjahan (32) and Md. Monir (38). ).
Patenga Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zobair Syed said 14 gamblers were arrested in a raid on Friday morning on a tip-off. At this time 3 packets of gambling equipment and cards were recovered. Regular cases have been filed against the arrested gamblers at Patenga Model Police Station.
Meanwhile Police have arrested six gamblers along with gambling equipment and about one lakh cash from behind a fruit warehouse on the east side of the road at the main gate of Atura Depot of Bayazid Bostami Police Station.
Bayezid Bostami police officer in charge (OC) said Kamruzzaman on Thursday.
The arrested are- Md. Kamruzzaman (28), Md. Shah Jahan Prakash Sujan (28), Md. Ibrahim (26), Md. Imam (47), Md. Hasan (25) and Md. Hasan (30).
OC Kamruzzaman said seven gamblers were arrested in a raid on Wednesday (August 4th) at around 7.30pm on the basis of secret information. Two packets of gambling equipment, cards and Tk 99,050 in cash were recovered at the time. The OC said legal action was being taken against the arrested gamblers.
