20.5 kg gold recovered in Dhaka, Ctg

Around 14kg of gold bars was recovered by customs officials from a Biman Bangladesh flight that landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.
Dhaka Customs House Joint Commissioner Kazi Mohammad Zia Uddin said that the gold bars were recovered from a cargo hold of a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines
coming from Dubai. The gold bars were kept in a stitched black bag.
Chittagong Kotwali thana police also seized 65 pieces of gold bars weighing approximately 6.5kg from the Old Church Compound area in front of Azizia Boarding in city on Tuesday midnight.
Chittagong Police detained two persons identified as Dulal Dhar and Paritosh Dey, for their alleged involvement with the gold smuggling.
Officer In Charge (Investigation) of Kotwali thana Nizamuddin said that the gold smugglers were waiting in front of Azizia boarding at Old Church compound in a private car (Dhaka-Metro-37-3049) to deliver the gold bars to one Narayan Karmakar in Hazari Lane gold market.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided in the area, searched the private car and seized these gold bars from their possession.
A case under gold smuggling act has been lodged with the concerned police station, sources said.
