2 youths held on charge of damaging idol in Bagerhat

Two youths named Choto Shaikh and Omar Shaik hailed from village Koramara in Bisnupur Union under Sadar Upazila were arrested on the alleged charge of breaking the idol of Dedvi Saraswati in village Sahaspur under the same Union on Monday night.
Shankar Kumar Chakrabarty, UP Chairman of Bisnupur disclosed, the idol of Devi Saraswati was installed in a temporary mandop erected in an open field of village Sahaspur on Monday morning in order to celebrate Sarawati Puja. But at the following night the arrested youths were going from Koramara village to Khalishpur village by a van and when they reached near the Puja pandel they broke the head of the idol Saraswati and threw to the road side. But the local people caught then red-handed and handed over them to the police after they were given a gang beaten.
Mhatab Uddin, O/C. Bagerhat Model PS confirmed the matter and told, Shadat Hossain, ASP of the Model PS visited the place of occurrence and recovered the broken head of the idol Sarawati.
In this connection one Narendra Gain lodged a case with the Model PS against the arrested persons.
