2 ‘Yaba traders killed in C’bazar gunfight

Two ‘Yaba traders’ were killed in a reported gunfight with law enforcers in hilly area adjacent to Parjatan Bazar in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Ahmed Hossain, 45, from Hatiya and Abdur Rahman, 46, from Rohingya Camp.
Pradip Kumar Das, OC (Officer-in-Charge) of Teknaf Police Station, said when a team of police reached the hilly area along with the two Yaba traders to recover Yaba pills and arms, their cohorts opened fire on the cops.
Police fired back in self-defence, triggering a gunfight. They found bullet-hit Ahmed Hossain and Abdur Rahman after the gunfight, OC added.
They were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where duty doctors declared them dead.
The dead bodies were kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, the OC told media.
