Two women have been killed allegedly by their husbands in separate incidents in Satkhira and Chittagong districts.
In Satkhira, police recovered the body of a woman hanging from a tree near her house at Bakal Bagabari village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nazma Khatun, 30, third wife of Saiful Islam of the village.
Quoting locals, police said Saiful along with some of his friends went to Nazma’s house on Monday night and took liquor there.
Nazma was found hanging on Tuesday morning while her husband and others remain absconding.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Golam Rahman said the body bore marks of strangulation.
He also said Saiful is accused in several murder cases and a drive is on to arrest him and his accomplices.
In Chittagong, a newlywed woman died as her husband hit her with an electric iron at their house at Mainnapara on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Emy Akhter, 22, wife of M Harun.
Police said, a brawl broke out between the couple when the husband objected to the dress-up of his wife as they were about to set out for an outing in the morning.
At one stage, the husband hit the wife with the electric iron, leaving her dead on the spot.
Emy was married to Harun four months back.
On information, police recovered the body and arrested Harun in this connection.
