Staff Reporter :Two police women were killed and at least thirty others injured in a head-on collision between a police bus and a truck in city’s Fakirapul intersection on Sunday morning.The dead were identified as Akhlima Akhtar, 20, daughter of Gulam Mostofa, and Munia Akhtar, 22, daughter of Bulu Miah.The accident occurred when a sand-laden truck hit a bus with women police coming from the opposite direction around 5.50 am, leaving them injured, Sub-Inspector of Motijheel thana Md Feroz said.The wounded were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital. But Monira and Aklima succumbed to their injuries at DMCH.Of the injured, Mali, Farida, Sohagi, Yeasmin, Sima, Shahnaz and Alfa were admitted to DMCH while others to different hospitals.DMCH Ourpost In-charge and Sub-Inspector (SI) Mozammel Haque said the bodies had been handed over to the relatives after the autopsy in the hospital morgue, the police official said.
