Two convicted war criminals on Thursday filed an appeal with the Supreme Court challenging the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) that handed down death penalty to one and life term imprisonment to others.
The ICT-1, sentenced Muhibur Rahman alias Baromiah,65, to death sentence while Abdur Razzak,63, awarded life term imprisonment for their alleged crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
The two cousins submitted a 28-pages appeal through their lawyer seeking acquittal from the charges brought against them.
M Masud Rana, a lawyer of the convicted said that his clients were not involved with the crimes committed during the War of Independence.
Hence, they sought acquittal mentioning 10 grounds in the appeal.
