A Netrakona court on Tuesday awarded death penalty to two persons for murdering an adolescent schoolgirl after violating her at village Atitpur under Barhatta upazila of Netrakona district in 2012.
The judge of District Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Dr. AKM Abul Kashem delivered the judgment at the crowded courtroom in the presence of the two convicted persons.
The convicts are Ali Hussain, 25, of village Atitpur and Mamud Hussain, 25, of village Horipur under Sunamganj district.
While delivering the verdict, the judge said the two convicted persons would be
hanged until death as the allegations of gang-raping and murder were proved against them beyond any reasonable doubt.
According to the court sources, the prosecution story, in brief, is that Shabnur , 10, a student of class two of the Atitpur Government Primary School and the daughter of Jahangir Alam from the village Atitpur was violated and murdered by the two convicted persons in a jute field nearby her house on June 13, 2012.
