Two teenage girls were raped in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj on Tuesday, said Sub-inspector of Bandar Police Station, Md Barek.
One of the victims filed a case early Wednesday with the police station naming five accused. Police arrested four of them today from Islambagh area of the upazila, but one is still on the run, reported our correspondent.
The arrestees are: Sifat Hossain (18) from Siddhirganj; Shakib Hossain (24) from Islambagh; Sifat Hossain (21) from Kushiara; and Naeem Mia (24) from Islampur.
Barek, also the investigating officer, told the media that the two girls went to hang out with the five accused on Tuesday afternoon. Later, they all went to Shakib’s house in the evening, where the teenagers were raped by two of the accused.
Both the girls informed their family members about the incident later that night and one of them filed a case against the five accused today at 2am, he said.
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dipak Chandra Saha told the media that the two victims have been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical examination and the four arrestees were sent to the court this afternoon for recording confessional statements under Section 164, after admitting to the crime during initial interrogation by police.
