Two sisters named Rubia Aktar (07) and Rafia Aktar (04) daughters of Rahim Hawkadar, a poor van puller of village Madhya Nalbunia under Sharankhola Upozila in Bagerhat district met their tragic end when they were drowned in a pond of the village on Friday, according to a report received here.
It is learnt from the family source that at about 1pm when Rahim Hawladar left the house for a local mosque to say the Friday prayer did not find his daughters in the house and after saying the prayer in the mosque he returned home at about 2 pm.
but he did not find his daughters. Then the family members and relatives began to search hither and thither and after a long search the dead bodies of the sisters found floating in nearby pond. The relatives recovered the dead bodies and rushed to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared them dead. It is guessed that the deceased sisters, perhaps, went to the pond to take bathe without the knowledge of the family members and, somehow, they slipped and were drowned in the pond between 12 am to 1pm.
