Two siblings were killed in a fire at Hemayetpur in Savar on Saturday night, according to police.
The deceased are Zahid, 13, and his brother Nahid, 6, from Trimohani village of Raniganj in Naogaon district.
Police and witnesses said, the victims’ mother Jobeda Begum, an asthma patient, had gone to buy medicine near the Hemayetpur bus-stand in Savar, one kilometer from her corrugated tin-shed house. Her sons were asleep and she left a burning candle, they said.
Hearing shouts, Jobeda Begum said that she rushed home and found her house on fire. Savar Model Police Station Officer-In-Charge Mohsinul Kader said two brothers died in the fire while they were sleeping.
He said that the bodies had been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
