Three people including two siblings died after being electrocuted while recovering a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from a ditch by the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Patia upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan, 24 and Shahadat Hossain Hannan, 21, sons of Ijjat Ali and their uncle Nur Hossain, 28, all hailing from the area.
Sheikh Mohammad Neyamatullah, Officer-in-Charge of Patia Police Station, said a Karnaphuli-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw, carrying the trio, plunged into a roadside ditch after being hit by another CNG-run auto-rickshaw at around 12:30 am. The trio met the tragic incident while recovering the CNG-run auto-rickshaw as they came in contact of electrified water of the ditch as wire snapped into it, said OC. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue.
