2 sent to jail for kidnapping RMG worker in Gazipur

Two men were sent to jail on Monday for kidnapping a garment worker in Gazipur, said a Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) press release.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) had detained the two persons early Monday following the victim’s allegation.
They were later sent to jail by a court after a case was filed against them in this connection, Lt Commander Abdullah Al-Mamun, in-charge of Rab-1 Gazipur Porabari camp, said in the press release issued today.

The arrestees are Mamun Hossain, 30, of Konapara area of Gazipur city and Hira Islam, 24, of Salna-Mollahpara of the city, said the press release.
Lt Commander Al-Mamun said the two men kidnapped Sirajul Islam, a garment employee, from Vaoraid area of Gazipur on December 28 last year.
They took Sirajul to a local garden and stole his money and his mobile phone after assaulting him mercilessly.
The kidnappers also collected Tk 20,000 from the victim’s family through mobile banking, threatening to kill Sirajul if they did not pay. They later fled after tying Sirajul to a tree, said the Rab official.
Following the allegation from the victim, the Rab team detained the two alleged kidnappers from Porabari area after launching a drive early in the morning.
The elite force also recovered a machete and two mobile phones from their possession, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting the official.
