RU Corresponden :Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, allegedly severed the left leg of an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and cut the tendons of another BCL leader’s hand and leg at Rajshahi University on Tuesday morning.The victims have been identified as Tagor M Salehi, and Masud Hasan, both are second year students of the Social Science and the History Department respectively. Togor is Students’ Scholarship Affairs Secretary of BCL, RU unit, and Masud is an activist, both were undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH). Meanwhile, police arrested 15 activists of Chhatra Shibir, suspecting their involvement in the incident from different areas of the city, said Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Motihar Police Station. The arrested students would be interrogated at Motihar thana.Witnesses said, at about 8:30 am, the victims came under attack in front of the Habibur Rahman Hall. At that time, they were going to attend the classes by rickshaw from Madar Box Hall. At least seven unidentified men swooped on Salehi and Masud and severed the left leg of Masud from his body and cut the tendons of hand and leg of Salehi with sharp knives and weapons. The attackers left the scene, exploding two cocktails. The security forces of Habibur Rahman Hall rescued them and sent to RMCH.
