UNB, Mymensingh :
Two alleged robbers were killed in separate lynch-mob attacks in Bhaluka and Gafargaon upazilas of the district early Friday.
One of the deceased was identified as Saiful Islam,30, while identity of the other could not be known immediately.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said a band of robbers came riding on a truck and stormed Rampura Bazar in Trishal upazila in the dead of night and looted valuables from different shops.
After committing robbery when the robbers reached Shantiganj Bridge in Bhaluka upazila, local people encircled them. Sensing danger, the robbers managed to flee leaving behind the truck.
Local people caught three of the robbers in Shantiganj and Shibganj of Gafargaon.
Later they gave the robbers severe beating, leaving two of them dead on the spot and another injured.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies and seized the truck used in the robbery incident.
