Two suspected robbers were killed in reported gunfights with police in Savar upazila in Dhaka and Rangpur district early Monday.
In Savar, suspected robber Shamim Hossain, 55, son of late Abul Khayer, hailing from Jashore district, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Tongabari area of Ashulia union.
A team of police arrested Shamim from highway on Sunday. Later, they conducted a drive to arrest members of his gang early in the morning, said Dipak Chandra Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Dhamrai Police Station.

opened fire on police, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight, leaving him bullet injured.
The injured was taken to Savar upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead, said the OC.
He used to commit robbery on Dhaka-Aricha highway addressing him as DB police and was accused in several robbery cases filed with Dhamari Police Station.
In Rangpur, an unidentified robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Satani Charani area in Gangachhara Upazila around 2am.
On information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation for committing robbery in the area, a team police conducted a drive, said additional superintendent of police Saiful.
